You want your car to be with you for a long time. You can achieve this if you perform auto maintenance on a regular basis. The owner's manual of your car, the dealer, and a service specialist can help you about the intervals needed during maintenance.

Here are some guidelines when doing your own car maintenance regarding intervals:
Between 15,000 and 30,000 Miles
  • 15,000 miles - You need to change your car air filter.
  • 20,000 miles - Check your coolant and battery.
  • 30,000 miles - Check the HVAC system, suspension parts, coolant, brake pads, and radiator hoses. It is also the time to change the power steering fluid and air filter.

Between 35,000 and 60,000 Miles
  • 35,000 miles - Change your battery.
  • 40,000 miles - Check the suspension and ignition system. Change the spark plug wires and spark plugs.
  • 45,000 and 50,000 miles - Perform these check-ups again.
  • 60,000 miles - Check the suspension parts, HVAC, and wheels. Change your coolant, brake fluid, timing belt, radiator hoses, power steering fluid, and brake pads.

But car maintenance involves many tasks, which can be forgotten easily. It is better to keep a checklist that is helpful when your memory fails you.

Different Types Of Checklist
Your checklist for the upkeep should be simple yet effective. The purpose of having a checklist is to that you have something to help you with following the schedule and remembering it.

A booklet is a common type of checklist option. The glove compartment is the ideal place to keep your booklet. Of course, you can also create your checklist on your mobile phone, laptop, or computer. Use the one that will be most effective for you.

The checklist for auto maintenance is generally in four categories (every month, every quarter, every twice a year, and unforeseen ones).

Monthly Inspection And Maintenance
  • Coolant
  • Belts and hoses
  • Oil level
  • Tire pressure

Quarterly Inspection And Maintenance
  • Battery terminals
  • Cables
  • Power steering fluid
  • Transmission fluid
  • Brake fluid
  • Windshield washer fluid
  • Oil and oil filter
  • Air filter

Bi-annually Inspection And Maintenance
  • Headlights
  • Horn, signals
  • Brake lights
  • Brakes
  • Spare tire
  • Wiper blades
  • Exhaust system
  • Shock absorbers

Consider Auto Maintenance Course
You can take the upkeep of your car to the next level. Enroll in a course that tackles car repairs and upkeep. Professional car technicians will teach you how to take care of your car, including routine auto maintenance.

Modern-day vehicles are well-known for their durability and their long-lasting etiquette. That does not mean operatives can avoid maintaining them. Getting regular aftercare done on your speed machine increases its life-expectancy, boosts its performance, and increases its resale worth. Oil change, tire rotation, wheel alignment, transmission flush, spark plug replacement- are some of the typical aftercare endeavors that a motorist needs to do on a regular basis to keep his road companion in a good running order for a lasting spell.

As a owner of the car, we should maintain our car properly to make it long lasting and run for a long time on the road without any problem. We should refer to the owner's manual to know about the maintenance intervals. An oil change is needed between every 5,000-7,500 miles. Air filter needs to be changed every 15,000 miles and we should check the coolant and the battery every 30,000 miles. Lastly we must find out a certified auto repair shop with ASE certified mechanics who can do proper maintenance of our car at regular intervals.

A car needs regular maintenance to run smoothly and last longer. Any sign which indicates that the vehicle has some sort of mechanical issues which shouldn't be ignored and the reason behind the appearance of such warning sign should be identified and fixed in time to keep the vehicle in working order. A quick inspection of different components of the vehicle on a daily basis is also essential as such kinds of inspection help a lot to spot and fix mechanical issues associated with the vehicle.
