After graduating from Towson State University in 1994, I began working as a life insurance agent for a national life insurance company. My father, an Annapolis dentist for 30 years, retired at the same time. This was the perfect opportunity to combine his expert business knowledge and experience with my drive to succeed. Together, my father and I started Tatterson Insurance Agency which over the years became Old Bay insurance agency. Old Bay signifies my commitment to the area from which I came and the value of being a long-term business in Annapolis.
Being born and raised in Annapolis and now raising my own family in Annapolis, gives me a great sense of pride to be a part of this community. One of my favorite recollections from my 18 years of serving Marylander's is calling a customer upon her yearly renewal to inform her that I was able to save her money through one of the many companies I represent. At first, she thought I was delivering bad news. When she realized I was offering her better coverage for less money, I gained another Old Bay family member for life. She asked if I would call her with such good news every week. That type of phone call is the reason I stay committed to excellence.

Rick began his insurance career selling life insurance for Met Life. In 2010 Rick decided to shift his focus to Property and Casualty Insurance. He joined Old Bay Insurance Agency in 2012 in pursuit of his goals. Working at Old Bay has given Rick the opportunity to build a clientele offering them the highest level of customer service with integrity and excellence.
For many years Rick and his wife Sheryle pastored a church in the Baltimore area. In 2010 after a series of personal events they decided to leave the ministry. Rick still speaks at churches when asked but his focus has been on building his insurance practice. Over the years he has been politically involved, in 2006 he ran for a seat in the Maryland General Assembly. He has served and chaired several local and national boards over the years. As a teenager Rick was a traveling musician (drummer) and currently plays drums for a Christian rock band called Wings of Glory.
Philip is the newest member to the Old Bay Insurance team.
As a 15-year veteran in the insurance industry, Philip chose insurance for its opportunities saying that, he wanted to be in control of his own success, and not be dependent on others doing their jobs for him to succeed. That's good news for his clients, since one of Phil's best characteristics is his ability to communicate, and see things through. He genuinely loves helping people out and eliminating any doubt or concern that their liability exposures are covered.
Personally, Philip is a father of three who has been married for 17 years. One of his favorite things to do is watch his kids play sports, and when he has down time, he enjoys reading, playing golf and... playing golf.

I was basically born into insurance. I grew up with a father who was an agent, and he taught me everything I know. That’s why when I graduated school in 1974, I jumped right in, and I’ve been helping people now for almost 40 years. I love helping people. I love the customer service, and having the answers that people need when they’re looking for a new policy, or have to make a claim. My specialty is working with each customer to understand all their needs and wants and do my absolute best to find them the best insurance for their money.
